How much do Roblox Ads cost?
As much as the budget you set, and no more. Roblox doesn't publish a price list: you choose a daily or a lifetime budget, Roblox's auto-bidding picks the bid, and Ads Manager reports what each play cost once the campaign has spent.
So "how much" really means "how much are you willing to spend before you find out the cost per play?" That's a different question, and it's the one to answer before you spend.
What decides what you pay?
Four things, and you only control two of them.
- Your budget. A daily budget caps what you spend each day. A lifetime budget caps the whole campaign. Either way it's a ceiling, so it tells you the most you'll pay, never what a play costs.
- The goal. You pick Plays, Earnings or Engagement. Roblox's own docs say to expect a higher cost per play on Engagement, because that audience is smaller.
- Roblox's bid. You don't set it. Auto-bidding works it out from your budget and how long the campaign runs, and Roblox says games that keep players engaged can get discounts from the ads system.
- Your game. Roblox warns that campaigns for games that closely copy existing ones can end up with no spend and no plays at all.
None of that gives you a number up front. Cost per play is total spend divided by plays, so it only exists once both have happened.
How are you billed for Roblox Ads?
By card or by ad credit. You pick one when you create the campaign, and Roblox won't let you switch after it's published.
- Card. You're charged when your spending reaches a threshold, which rises the more you spend, or at the end of the month if you don't reach it. A first campaign on a new card takes a small charge up front that counts toward the first bill. Cards are for adult accounts only.
- Ad credit. Credit comes off in real time as the campaign spends and shows up as one charge a day. Whatever a campaign didn't use goes back to your account when it ends.
- Fraud refunds. After a campaign finishes, Roblox checks it for bot traffic and refunds what it finds.
How do Robux turn into ad credit?
Inside Ads Manager, and only one way. Roblox calls the conversion "permanent and irreversible", and converted credit can only be spent on ads. Before you confirm, Ads Manager shows a preview of the exact conversion. That preview is the closest thing to a Robux to USD calculator Roblox gives you.
Small studios paying with Robux from their own game should think about this first. Converted Robux leave your balance whether the campaign works or not. The click-by-click version is in Roblox Ads Manager explained.
What else does a Roblox Ads campaign cost?
Time and creative. A sponsored tile is a thumbnail, so someone has to make several, watch which ones get clicked and swap out the weak ones. Then the budget runs out and the tile disappears. Nothing you paid for keeps working after that day. Every format Roblox sells, and where each one shows, is in Roblox ad formats explained.
How does a clipping campaign price differently?
You know the numbers before launch. With BloxClips you set the budget and we agree a CPM with you up front, then you pay that rate on approved views. A view only counts if our review team has checked its clip by hand, and invalid or suspicious views are filtered out before they reach your bill. You get guaranteed reach: creators keep posting until your view target is met, the undelivered portion is refunded if a campaign ends below it, and your dashboard shows views and spend per day the whole time.
| Compared | Roblox Ads | Clipping with BloxClips |
|---|---|---|
| Price set before launch | No | Budget and CPM |
| You pay for | Plays, at Roblox's bid | Approved views |
| Who sees it | People already on Roblox | TikTok, Shorts, Reels and X |
| When the budget ends | The tile disappears | The clips stay up |
Here's what that bought Kill Streak at launch: 3,000+ creators posted 11,153 clips, and those clips passed 10M views in the first 10 days. Those viewers were scrolling TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Reels, so a sponsored tile on Roblox's Home page would never have reached them.
How much should you budget to promote a Roblox game?
Start from the goal. A launch needs a lot of people seeing the game in the same few days, and a big game needs viewers it hasn't reached yet. Both are short-form problems. Whether Roblox Ads earn a place at all is in Are Roblox Ads worth it?, and the whole plan, from before release to after launch, is in how to market a Roblox game.
On a call we'll look at your game and your goal and tell you what your budget gets as a clipping campaign. Then we test hooks and formats until we find the one that spreads, pick creators whose followers are the players you want, and run everything else. You tell us the goal. Book a call.
