What is Roblox Ads Manager?
It's Roblox's self-serve tool for advertising your own game. A campaign from Ads Manager shows your game as a sponsored tile on the Home page and in search results, and the same tool handles billing and reports. You need a Roblox account with a verified email. Group-owned games can run campaigns too, through the group's own ad account.
Whether it's worth the money is a separate question, answered in Are Roblox Ads worth it?. This page is the how-to.
How do you set up Ads Manager?
- 01Open an ad accountSign in, go to Ads Manager, click Start creating, then Create campaign. Pick a time zone and accept Roblox's advertising terms.
- 02Add a way to payUnder Billing & payments, add a card or buy ad credit with Robux. Card payment is only open to adult accounts. Younger account holders can still use Robux ad credit.
How do you create a Roblox ad campaign?
Go to Manage Ads, click Create Campaign, and work down the form.
- 01Pick the gameChoose the game players join from the ad and name the campaign. Advanced options can drop players at a specific place and pass launch data, so your game knows who came from the ad and can greet them differently.
- 02Choose a goalPlays finds the most players. Earnings, still limited, goes after players likely to spend. Engagement reaches age-checked, highly engaged players, for games working toward Roblox's Kids and Select threshold.
- 03Choose an audienceAll Players, New Players, Recent Players or Lapsed Players. Recent and Lapsed only open up for games with enough of those players. Advanced targeting narrows by location, age, gender, genre and device.
- 04Set budget and datesPick a daily or lifetime budget, the payment method, a start time and a duration. If you pay with credit, auto-reload buys more when it runs out.
- 05Add thumbnailsUse thumbnails you already have in Creator Hub, upload new ones, or let AI generate options from a description. Roblox rotates them evenly across players.
- 06PublishRoblox's moderation team reviews the campaign before it goes live. A campaign that fails review shows as rejected.
What can you change after publishing?
Less than you'd think, so settle the goal and audience before you click Publish.
| Can change | Locked |
|---|---|
| Campaign name | Goal |
| Budget amount | Audience |
| Schedule | Budget type |
| Thumbnails | Payment method |
You can still cancel a campaign up until a few hours before its scheduled start. That cancels its ads, returns any credit it had set aside, and stops your card being charged.
How do Roblox ad credits work?
Ad credit is Robux you've converted for spending on ads. To buy it, go to Billing & payments, open Payment settings, choose the Robux Ad Credit tab, enter an amount and click Buy. Before you confirm, Ads Manager previews the exact conversion. People search for a Roblox ad credit calculator, and that preview is the only one Roblox offers.
- It's one way. Roblox calls the conversion "permanent and irreversible". Credit can only be spent on campaigns.
- Unused credit comes back. Credit set aside for a campaign that it didn't spend returns to your account when the campaign ends.
- Groups have their own credit. Someone with the "Configure and spend group revenue" permission converts group Robux, and anyone allowed to create the group's campaigns can spend it.
- Auto-reload tops it up. When credit runs out, it buys a day's worth and keeps going daily while the campaign runs.
What a campaign will actually cost you is covered in how much Roblox Ads cost.
What do Ads Manager reports show?
Spend, impressions, clicks, plays, playtime, cost per play and earnings, per campaign and per thumbnail. Impressions and clicks come in live. Plays and earnings are worked out by attribution, so they arrive later and keep counting for a while after someone joins through an ad. Earnings campaigns also get a return on ad spend figure.
Everything in that report happened on Roblox. If someone saw your game in a TikTok, then searched for it, Ads Manager has no idea why they came. Your BloxClips dashboard shows every video's views over time while a campaign runs, and you can line that up against your game's visits around the push.
Where does Ads Manager fall short?
Testing, and reach. Roblox's own advertising page tells the story of a top game that found its best thumbnails by testing more of them. That's the right instinct, but a campaign only holds a handful of thumbnails, and all of them are shown to people already on Roblox.
A clipping campaign tests at a scale a thumbnail slot can't. Creators cut the same footage thousands of ways and post it on TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels, and the feed shows which cuts work. On Kill Streak's launch, 3,000+ creators posted 11,153 clips in 10 days, and those clips passed 10M views.
Should you start with Ads Manager or clipping?
Clipping. Put the budget into a campaign first, then switch on Ads Manager once the clips are out if you still want it, so the sponsored tile reaches people who've already seen your game. How a campaign runs from brief to report is in how Roblox clipping campaigns work.
With BloxClips you don't set anything up yourself. We test formats until we find the one that spreads, we pick creators whose followers are the players you want, and we run the whole campaign. You tell us the goal. Book a call.
